THE CONDO BOOK PROJECT

NYC Condo Kitchen Appliance Brands by Price

Updated · 4 min read

Summary: The appliance package is one of the clearest signals of where a new condo sits in the market. We matched the fridge and cooktop brands in NYC condo offering plans filed since 2019 to each building's price per square foot.

Refrigerators

Every NYC condo offering plan lists the appliances that come with each apartment, often down to the model number. We pulled the refrigerator and cooktop brands from 1,236 plans first filed since 2019 and grouped the 978 we could price by the building's price per square foot.

Under $1,000 a square foot, Frigidaire and GE lead. From $1,000 to $2,500, Bosch is the most common. At $2,500 and up it's Sub-Zero, Gaggenau and Miele, though that tier is small: 39 plans name a fridge brand.

$2,500 a sq ft or more39Sub-Zero (36%), Gaggenau (26%), Miele (23%), Bosch (10%)

Notice Fisher & Paykel (0% of mid-tier plans) and Liebherr (8%) in the middle tier. Both make sleek panel-ready fridges that disappear into the cabinetry, a high-end look without the Sub-Zero price tag.

Cooktops and Ranges

In the middle tier, Fisher & Paykel fridges and Bertazzoni ranges are close behind the leader. At $2,500 a square foot and up, Miele, Gaggenau and Wolf are the most common cooktops.

Bertazzoni, the Italian range maker, is a favorite in mid-priced buildings (15% of them): it gives a kitchen a pro-style look at a lower cost than Wolf.

Some buildings stick to one premium line. 80 Clarkson specifies a Gaggenau cooktop and oven with a Sub-Zero fridge, Paragon uses Gaggenau throughout, and The Florian pairs a Sub-Zero fridge with a Wolf range.

The Extras

Laundry Doesn't Follow the Rules

Even in buildings at $2,500 a square foot or more, the most common washer is Whirlpool (24%), followed by LG (21%) and GE (15%); Miele, the luxury kitchen name, appears in 12%. That rests on just 33 plans, but the pattern is clear: in laundry, a compact machine that fits a closet seems to matter more than the logo. More in what NYC condos promise about laundry.

In NYC condos at $2,500 a square foot or more, Sub-Zero, Gaggenau and Miele are the most common refrigerators, and Miele, Gaggenau and Wolf the most common cooktops.

What is the most common appliance brand in new NYC condos?

It depends on price. Frigidaire and GE lead below $1,000 a square foot; Bosch is the most common from $1,000 to $2,500.

Do new condos come with a wine fridge?

Some do. 192 NYC condo offering plans filed since 2019 include one, most often from Sub-Zero.

Where do these figures come from?

From the refrigerator, cooktop, washer and other appliance specs in NYC condo offering plans filed since 2019. Percentages are shares of plans in each tier that name a brand for that appliance. GE Profile, Monogram and Café count as GE. Updated October 2026.

How is price per square foot measured?

It's the average closing price per Schedule A square foot where at least three homes have closed (735 of the 978 priced plans), otherwise the sponsor's Schedule A asking price. It's a building average, not the price of any one apartment. The same tiers are used in bathroom brands and finishes since 2010.
